The Homeless!

I had my craft fair yesterday, and it was snowing the whole time and that got me thinking about the homeless people, they will freeze in this weather so I went around the craft tables of knitting/crochet and quilting tables(Mainly) and asked for items of warmth to donate to the homeless, I got 3 vans full of stuff I was so proud, I called a local church and they sent over 3 vans to collect the stuff and helped me take it down town to a shelter that gives out the items to the homeless!

Christmas Cotton Search!

OMG! Nobody has any christmas colors, I need some NOW! I have a craft fair on Sunday and I have run out of the supply of christmas cotton I had stashed from last year, I want to make some more matching hand towels and dishcloths in christmas colors...

I have a knitting injury!

I am in pain! I can't believe that such a tiny little crack on the end of my finger can be so painful? It is a dry patch on the end of my finger and now I see a tiny little hole there?? My hubby says its because I knit too much??(What would he know) LOL! I tried putting some hand cream on it but that just stung! I was jumping up and down in the living room like a mad man! I thought I could just put a thimble on the finger while I knitted but those plastic thimbles are not made to knit with! I am sure my mother had a softer one made of some sort of rubber that was flexible? I will have to see if I can find one, as a band-aide just does not do the trick.. any suggestions are welcome.

I think I will go color my hair...

I have one of those 12 shampoo color things the grey is showing a bit I need to do a fix up job LOL!

I need to decide!

What I am making for my Christmas Gifts this year, I have an ongoing box in my craft cupboard that I add things to during the year to use as gifts year long, but with having done the craft fair and another coming up the box is looking a little empty, so I need to decide who I want to give homemade gifts too and what I want to give to them so I have time to get everything ready.

I feel so my happier here than on the message boards!

My friends here do not judge me for my choices! And that means a lot, I can speak my mind here and feel I am not having to defend myself to others that I know online but will never meet...
Why is it that people online feel the need to CONTROL others online and PUSH their opinions on others, is there really a need for that? Why can't people discuss topics as adults without aking offence and getting nasty??
I recently changed message board systems and since then I have had major problems with people that seem to think they have a right to judge me? And if I disagree with them they get really nasty like I have no right to feel hurt or upset by how many of them have treated me? Aparently it is okay for others to put me down and treat me badly but I am not allowed to feel upset by any of it and God Forbid I try to defend myself, that aparently is not allowed! How sad is that! I'm just venting here nobody has to support my rants in this post I'm just feeling sorry for myself... I'll get over it!

Long Tail Cast On!

I have finally taught myself to do the Long Tail Cast on! YEAH ME! :) I can't get over how neater my items all now look I wish I had learnt this method ages ago as some of my older items have very loose messy cast on edges.

Lets see what did I loose?

Well I had mentioned that we had NO INTERNET for A MONTH! My hubby used too much BandWidrh so we were suspended for a MONTH! OMG! was that difficult it just about drove me nuts having to use the Library computers to acess internet! LOL!
But I did manage to get a lot of reading done and also KNITTING!
I did the craft fair and I made $71.00 plus I got a pile of orders :) I have booked to do another craft fair Nov 26th.
I started doing Beading, I have been making Key Rings and Necklaces with names on them, they were very popular on my craft table, so yesterday I bpught more bead supplies so I can get busy making more for the next craft fair.
My Mums vist went okay burt it was a long visit... She is a wonderfuller knitter and while she was here she made me 2 jumpers/sweaters 2 vests and a cardigan :) I have been wearing them all non stop as it has started to turn cold here in Vancouver Candad, and nothing beats a homemade sweater...ETC: I will try to add some photos this week of me with my lovely sweaters ETC on :)
We finally bought a new printer/scanner/copier so I will get busy up-dating my craft pics to show everyone.. I am thinking of saving up to buy a better digital camera for myself also.

OMG!

all my up-dated posts from a few days ago are GONE! Man I can't even rember what I said?? GRrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bamboo Needles

I love knitting with Bamboo needles and do so as often as I can. I did try a Bamboo Crochet Hook, but I wasn't as keen on that.
I find when I use Bamboo needle's my hands don't ache so much, my fingers do not feel tired and cramp up.

Latch Hook!

Anyone do this? I think I did a few as a teen and I know I bought one when I was pregnant with my son...I have no idea what became of it I rember starting it ?? LOL!
Anyway I bought one today, I thought I would make it up for my neice Phillipa in Australia and send it to her, she can then make it into a pillow sham thing or frame it. It is really cute, it has a rainbow with a small red heart under the rainbow. I started it tonight while at my craft group.

It is nearly finished I am going to have to buy another one I like doing this :)

I am going to try Quilting

As I bought a sewing machine a few weeks ago , I have decided I want to try some sort of quilting. Not a huge quilt to start with, but maybe some small items, like place mats and a bag, or a table runner, plus maybe a wall hanging that can also be used as a table cloth.
I have bought a couple of quilting magazines and a quilting book(For children) LOL! In them I have seen a few things I think I would like to try.
Though I hated sewing in highschool I feel at this point in time I want to sew again, but now make things I want to make, not stuff that a teacher tells me I have to make :)

Thank you Cathy

for the Tea-Pot/Tea-Cup Puzzle you found for me :) I have started it already :)

I love my knifty Knitter!

The other day I finished the hooded scarf I have been making for a while now on my green loom ! and If I do say so myself it looks fantstic I will get a photo on here over the weekend! I found some fluffly yarn that matched the whole thing perfectly so I added that also it looks great! In fact it looks so great I started another one :)

Knitting Puzzle Finished!

This is the puzzle I bought when I went to the U.S.A shopping with some of the ladies from my craft/knitting group.

Saturday, June 10, 2006

I finished!

The poncho for my neice, and also the hooded baby cardigan for my friends daughter! :) Still working on the blanket... I have up on the matrix scarf thing I hate knitting with that stuff so I gave the 4 balls of yarn to Cathy to make as I kept getting very upset trying to knit with it LOL!
I still need to do two 12" squares for the afgan exchange at my groip, and I would really like to make a world cup scarf(England) I'm yet to find a free pattern online for that?? (HELP) and no I haven't started the Harry Potter Scarf yet either!

Monday, May 15, 2006

It is finished!

YEAH! I finally finished my hooded/zippered cardigan! I have sewn it up and single crocheted around the edge it looks great, all I have to do is get my friend to put the zip in for me now :)

Monday, May 08, 2006

I really need to get my act together!

I am terrible for starting things and not finishing them, I always seem to have unfinished projects on the go yet I still keep starting new ones?? What is wrong with me??
I still have the hooded/zippered cardigan to finish all I have is the hood to knit, then sew it altogether, my friend said she would then sew the zip in for me as I have never put a zip in before? I also still have the hooded poncho to finish for my neice in Australia, I have sewn the poncho together but I still need to make the hood and sew it on!... I am still working on the TV Blanket for myself, plus a shrug for my friend, but at least I did start and finish 3 shrugs for myself that I have been wearing non stop, I LOVE THEM! .... Last night I started a 3 in one scarf out of an English knitting magazine, mind you I have also undone it and started it 4 times since last night! It is using the yarn Bernat Matrix. OMG! I hate knitting with this stuff, but I have to admit it does look great now that I have it going with no mistakes or dropped stitches, but man is it a pain in the butt to knit with!
I did make a dishcloth for an exchange I had going at my yahoo knitting group, and I also did the 12" square for the afgan square exchnage we are also running at my yahoo knitting group, I now need to do both again for this months exchage! :)
Yesterday I found this great secondhand bookstore and bought OddBall Knitting By Barbara Albright and also bought KnitLit By Linda Roghaar & Molly Wolf.
Last week I read the book BeyondStitch'N'Bitch it was a FuN book to read and a fast read. I am waiting for my library to get me the latest Stephanie Pearl-Mcphee(Yarn Harlot ) book. I recently bought the book 200 knitted blocks By Jan Eaton, and I also bought Quick Crochet, Huge Hooks.
Does anyone buy the English knitting magazine Simply Knitting? I just love this magazine but often have a hard time getting yarn that is used in it here in Canada as it ends up being so expensive.
I was wondering does anyone rember the new magazine that came out in the Fall/Winter 2006...Family Circle Easy Crocher...? In that magazine it says the next issue Spring/Summer 2006 would be on stands April 18th... but I have not been able to find a copy at all? Does anyone know if it ever came out?
Oh and last weekend I bought a sewing machine from a lady I know. It only cost me $30 and it was just serviced. I hated sewing in high school, but thought it was time I got my act together and learnt how to sew properly... Or at least enough to do repairs and such! LOL!
Last weekend a neighbor that was moving gave me her washing machine, it is only 3 years old. I am so happy to have a washing machine at long last, it doesn't match my drier but that is no big deal. So I have been doing losts of laundry and Ironing(I love to Iron) :)
The sock class ended up being cancelled as not enough people signed up for it, so for now knitting socks remains a mystery to me :) And I decided not to do the crochet class as it was going to be over $50.00 in total I have decided to just practice on my granny squares for now.
I think that brings me up to date for now... Hopefully I won;t take so long to up-date again :)

I could not get in here!

I had to wait until I heard back from the people that run this system and we had to change my password, our computer crashed and we think it may have been hacked as I have had problems getting into many things that had passwords but I am slowly getting in comtrol of my sites again I will up-date what I have been knitting in the next few days, and also stop by everyones blogs to say hello.

Wednesday, April 05, 2006

I think it is about time I up-dated here!

OMG! I can't believe how busy I have been the last few weeks, I seem to have no time to do all the things I want to do!
I still have not finished the hooded, zippered cardigan, all I have is the hood to knit now and sew it all together then put the zip in :)
I did make a shrug, but ended up un-doing it as it did not fit??
http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/50735.html?noImages=
So I found another pattern online and last night finished the actual knitting of the shrug, now I have to sew up the sleaves and add a fringe this one looks great I am so happy I undid the first one I made.
http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/kls-shrug.html?noImages=

Has anyone seen the Lion Brand Book...Lion Brand Yarn...Vintage Styles for today...
I got my local library to get it in for me and it is fantasic, it has some really nice patterns in it.

My inlaws were here for the last week, but they left today, so I really need to give my house a good clean as they had their two dogs with them and I feel like my place is covered in dog hair now to go with my cats fur LOL!

I am still working on the lace blanket, it is slow going but it is looking really nice :)

I have had a terrible tooth ache for the last week, but I can't afford to go to the dentit until my husbands medical/dental kicks in. :(

I haven't finished the poncho for my neice yet, well I did sew the body of it up but I still need to make the hood for it as I want it to be a hooded poncho.

Friday, March 10, 2006

OKAY! GAUGE...I get it now!

The other night I undone the hooded cardigan AGAIN! for the second time! The first time it looked too small(I had done a gauge and changed my needle size) But stupid me failed to notice that this pattern is a short style I like4 to wear my stuff a little longer, but I just followed along with the pattern and went with the measurement for the length and for me it was just wayyyyyyyy too short, soooooooooooooooo I undone it all the back and two front panels, now do not ask me why I then started again and used the size needles reccomended when I had already done a Guage and knew I had to use smaller needles??? So after I got the back and the two front panels done yet again! I looked at it and it was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to wide so I undone it AGAIN! I did a Gauge again just to make sure and started yet agin this time it seems to be CORRECT!
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO for all you new knitters that do not understand GAUGE! Believe me you really need to do this if you don'y want to keep undoing all your hard work! I know some people just have a natural nack for this sort of thing, I guess I do not! I swear I will awlays do a GAUGE from now on!

Wednesday, March 08, 2006

OH! HELP!

Why is my info stuff and my blogs I visit all way down the page?? HELP ANYONE PLEASE???

Monday, March 06, 2006

I haven't written in here in about a week!

I guess I have been busy??
Anyway last Wed I bought the book...Knitting Pretty By Kris Percival to go with the Crochet one I got the week before, it has some wonderful patterns in it that I can't wait to try.
I am still working on the Poncho for my neice in Australia, in fact I haven't picked it up in over a week, as I have been busy making Barbie Doll Clothes for my friends daughter. I have to admit I just love making Barbie Doll Clothes I love putting the finished outfits on my Barbie Doll(My Model) But you know what I found out and I never knew this until I started knitting Barbie Doll Clothes, but all Barbie Dolls are not the same size, as sometimes I make the clothes they fit my Barbie Doll then I take them to my friends hose and some of the clothes are too small or too big yet they also have official Barbie Dolls. that is so weird, and anoying to say the least!
I think what I really need to do is make a plan to FINISH OFF all the projects I have on the go before I start any knew ones(I wonder if I will ever actually do this?) LOL!
On the weekend I went with my husband (Vern) out to Stevson where he was working and I finally got to go into the Craft/Yarn Store there(It is never usually open when he is working out there as it is usually late at night) But he had to work on Saturday out there, so I crawled out of bed @ 5.30AM so I could go with him, I slept in the car on the dock wheile he worked then when the store finally opened @ 9.30AM I was the first customer of the day! It was well worth it, :) I spent about $60.00 and could have spent more but hubby was with me and he was saying can we go now I want to go to the secondhand store LOL! He hates going into a craft or yarn store or a book store with me I could spend all day there :) I did get some yarn and a free pattern to make a baby blanket though I bought extra wool and I am going to make the blanket bigger as a TV blanket for myself. :) I even got two really cute cat rubber stamps for my embossing, and I bought two poncho pattern books, one a childrens one the other an adult one, both have knitting and crochet patterns in them. OH! and I was sooo happy to find the handy crafter cotton that was out at christmas in the white with the gold fleck and the white with the siler fleck I love this stuff to make evening gowns for Barbie it looks great :) I plan to go back there in a few weeks time once I have done my taxes :) I also got a pile of those FREE patterns that most stores have, but this store had ;ots of really old ones I have never seen, I got about 50 old free patterns I have never seen . :) There were a few sock patterns in there so my plan is to get all my projects finished then work on making my first pair of SOCKS! Thats the plan anyway, lets see if I can do it?

Sunday, February 26, 2006

I have been doing laundry most of the day!

With a few breaks in between to finish off a scarf that I need to mail to England on Wed, but I still have another one to knit before then to mail with it aswell. I also made an Irish Cottage Pie for dinner, I found the recipe in a new Irish cookbook that I got in my Avon Order today! My hubby said it was the best cottage pie I had ever made(And he loves my cottage pies) so I guess this one will go in my fave recipes file to make often :)
I am full up with a cold, so I have a hot lemon drink sitting here at the computer with me, in hope that it will help me sleep, I have to work tomorrow and I usually have Mondays off , but this week I have Friday off instead.
I still need to make the Barbie Doll Evening Gown for Lily, I promised her I would make one for the Barbie Doll she got for Christmas, and I still have not got around to doing it.
I did make a hat with those ear flaps on the other night and it turned out great, but it just does not look good on me, I am not a hat person, so I guess I will be giving this hat away, I do have a pattern to make a hooded scarf on the knifty knitter, and as I seem to look okay in a hooded scarf I think I'll make that for myself, I always seem to make things and give them away I want something for me! :)

Saturday, February 25, 2006

I signed up for a sock knitting class!

It is not until the end of March but I really want to make a pair of socks! I also signed up for a Crochet class, as all I can crochet is Granny Squares and I would love to be able to do more with crochet as I love it. :)

Wednesday, February 22, 2006

Books I bought today!

I went to the little knitting/craft store in Deep Cove today(Room 6) and I bought myself...Cozy Crochet By Melissa Leapman and I also bought the box of Knitting on the Go...25 Chic and Easy Patterns By Kris Percival. I picked up a few extra hours at work so I thought it was okay to spend a little on myself :)

Monday, February 20, 2006

I need help please!

I would like to add to the side bar on the right of my blog a list of blogs I like to read, but I am unsure how to do this? Can someone please advise me how to do this? I tried following the help instructions but could not figure out how to do it?

I knitted this Tea Cozy A few months ago....

And in fact I need to knit a new one, this one has been so welled used it is all stained and just won't come clean anymore. :( And as I am a huge tea drinker I have to have a pretty tea cozy, maybe I will look for a fun felted one to do, I have never done felting and I really want to give it a try.

I thought I would also share the Baby Blanket and Dolly Balnket I made last year...

I made both for my friends two daughters. I made the baby blanket for the new baby, so then also made a dolly blanket for my friends 2 1/2 year old so she would not feel left out.

WoW! I can't Believe How Many Wonderful Ladies....

have already stopped by my new blog and offered to help me learn how to use this very new system for me! You ladies are amazing I thank you from the bottom of my heart. {{{BIG HUHS}}}

Here is the Crochet Tea Cozy ......

I made after I had my lesson from Ann Marie, I don't think I will be able to make it again! :)

It is Sooooooooooooooooo~COLD~ Here!

I am going to go sit and crochet for a while and get myself a hot water bottle! BRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Man it feels like it is going to SNOW! I should crochet a huge blanket to keep me warm LOL!
I have to get my act together and finish my hooded cardigan as it is perfect for Spring and that is just around the corner I HOPE? :)

Now that I have moved all my old Journal posts

from bravenet, I am hopping that here I will at least get the odd comment, I will have to figure out how to add photos of my finished work as I get them done, but that will take time. :)

Over the last few days I have been busy working on a Granny Square Poncho for my 3 year old neice living in Australia. I had an old large Granny Square Blanket that I had made about 10 years ago, I noticed it had a huge hole in it, so I undone the whole thing and have been re-uing the yarn, and as all I can do in crochet is granny squares..LOL! Hence a granny square poncho LOL! I found a pattern online for a plus size granny square poncho so I have just made the squares way smaller so as to fit the poncho for my neice. I have never met her, so I have been using the children I look after as a nanny for the size LOL! To make the poncho you do 2 larger squares then 8 smaller onse I have 6 of the small squares left to make before I start to put it together.

Well That Was Exciting!

Well that was exciting! LOL!
On Monday Jan 23rd 2006, I went over the border to bellingham with Cathy and Deb from my craft group! When we got to the US Border, we had to go inside as I am not a canadian I am only a landed immigrant, so I had to be finger printed and my photo taken then a card is put in my passport that has a little micro chip in it that tells tham when I go into or leave the U.S.A.
The trip it self was lots of fun I managed to get the knitting puzzle I have been looking for,(Vern and I were working on it last night ) I also got the Dummies Scrapbooking starter kit that nobody up here in Canada seems to have So I was very happy to find these two items I have been wanting I also got some Peaches & cream Cotton in a color I haven't seen up here in Canada Oh and I got these two little knitting pattern books, and one of them had a knitted bookmark pattern in it so I was happy, as all the ones I see seem to be crochet and we all know how good I am at that! LOL!
I finished The Shop On Blossom Street By Debbie Macomber ... yesterday and now I am reading the next book in that new series... A Good Yarn.

These posts were on my Bravenet Journal..

I started on the back tonight!
I am nearly up to the shaping of the arm hole! It knits up fast, so I am very happy now that I un-done it all and started again!
I can't wait for Monday, when I go on a Yarn Crawl with Deb and cathy from my Purls 'N' Lace yahoo Group, it should be lots of fun, I don't have much money to spend, but it is the fun and friendship that is what counts! I have made some wonderful friends in my craft group and always look forward to Wed Noghts when we meet up Even if I just take note of stuff that I want, I can always go again when I have more spare money, or get Deb or Cathy to get me what I want next time they go... Once summer comes and Vern is getting more hours I will have extra cash to buy more STASH! LOL!

5:50 PM
I started The Shop On Blossom Street, this afternoon!
I am up to chapter 5 already, and I just love it! It won't take me long to finish this book!
I had a green ink disaster last night, my son somehow knocked over a bottle of green in for my ink pen and it went all over my library book... A Good Yarn, and also all over my new book that I bought last Wed... Yarn Harlet...The Secret Life Of A Knitter... I finished it this afternoon while soaking in a bubble bath, at least I was still able to read the last 2 chapters! But man what a mess! green ink all over the carpet, how I got it all out still amazes me, I poured salt all over it and let soak into the salt then I vacuumed that up it all came out! Thank goodness!

I think I need a Craft Journal!
As I am so active with crafts, I think it is a good idea to do just a craft journal!
My fave crafts are Knitting, Srapbooking and Embossing.

At the moment I am reading the book...Yarn Harlot..The Secret Life Of A Knitter.... By Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, I read her other book a few weeks ago... Medations for the women who knits too much.
Next I plan to read the books... The Shop On Blossom Street,... and A Good Yarn,... Both By Debbie Macomber,... these books are yarn/knitter stories.
What I am knitting at the moment... A hooded/zippered cardigan,... a hand towel,... a dishcloth,... and a Barbie Doll Poncho.

4:51 PM
Getting Organized!
I started the day...By undoing the hooded/zippered Cardigan, it just was not long enough for how I like to wear them, yes I could have just added a ribbed band as it does not have a ribbing band but it did not take me long to knit the back and the two front panels, so I just decided instead of fiddling around with something that I have never done before I would just undo it and start again!
Next I got a little knitter starter kit ready, as I promised one of the ladies I babysit for that I would teach her and her two children to knit, so I went to Michaels last night and got two sets of kids knitting needles and a corker, I already had a set of needles I can give to my friend(How is it I end up with more than one set of the same size needles all the time??) LOL! I have loads of spare balls of yarn in my stash, that I will never use as it is just the odd ball that I doubt I will be able to find the same dye lot again its been sitting in my stash for years... many are balls people/friends have given to me! So I will use that to teach them to knit why go buy yarn when I have loads to spare, and my Hubby is always asking why do you keep buying more yarn yopu have loads stashed all over the house(This is true)
Next I did a little tidy up of my knitting basket that sits under my coffee table, OMG! I have no idea how this basket gets so over flowwing, I had empty candy wrappers in there, and a broken bamboo needle I have no idea where the other one is, or even why I kept the broken one?? I even found a photo copy of a pattern that I have been looking for, for weeks, I thought I had lost it I think I need to clean this basket out more often, say like weekly LOL!
I now need to decide what knitting project I will take with me tonight to do while I am babysitting? Do I take the hooded/zippered cardigan and start that again, or do I take something that is half finished so I can actually get it finished so I can then start on the cardigan again?

5:07 PM
Crochet!...??
I have always told people yes I can crochet! But can I ??? All I can do is crochet granny squares or do a long cord of chain stitch! LOL! I can't follow a crochet pattern, well not much, yes I can do all the stitches if I sit with a learn to crochet book open and do them from that, but give me a pattern and I am LOST! Though one night at my craft group Ann Marie was teaching us all to crochet so I went home and I followed a easy teas-cozy pattern(Yes me) and I made a lovely crochet tea-cozy that I promptly gave away to a friend, now it took me two nights to crochet this tea-cozy but if I tried to do it again now I would not be able to do it, I would need another lesson from Ann Marie then need to rush home and make it straight away! Now why is it that I can knit and follow a pattern and even figure out new things or rember when someone explains a knitting thing yet crochet just causes me sooooooooooooo much stress??

I have decided to moove my Blog...

to a service here that has more craft bloggers on it, as my poor blog on bravenet seems all alone LOL!
I will though copy and paste my old posts from there onto this new blog, then start adding current stuff as it happens. :)
